what’s really on your towel?
When it comes to skin wellness, the tools you use are just as important as the products themselves. Your towel is a key player in your daily skin routine—but how clean is it, really?
the experiment
We decided to dig deep and we ran a bacteria culture test on clean towels vs our Bamteek towels to see what’s lurking beneath the surface.

the results
Our culture test revealed the presence of bacterial colonies—showing that "clean" towels might not be as clean as you think. Here's the breakdown:
White or pale colonies: This is most likely Staphylococcus epidermidis. It is usually a harmless skin flora but they contaminate the towels for weeks, which in result causes skin redness and irritation especially for sensitive skin.
Yellow colonies: This might be Staphylococcus aureus. If they break into the skin, they cause skin infections such as small bumps, pimples, acne, and blisters and eventually a common chronic skin condition - Rosacea.
Orange colonies: These colonies could represent a pigmented bacterium like Serratia marcescens (pink bacteria), that thrives in moist environments. That's one that's responsible for that weird musty odor on your towels -yuck.
so what now?
Every time you use a contaminated towel, you’re transferring bacteria, dust, and residue onto your skin. Your towel might be undoing all the hard work your skincare routine aims to achieve.
Our findings reaffirm why Bamteek’s single use biodegradable towels are a game-changer for your skin routine. Ensuring a fresh, clean surface every single time.
